Hydroxyapatite in Dentistry: A Biological Approach to Remineralization and Repair
Attend by Live – Interactive Webinar or Live at our School
2 Ceu’s
Description:
As demand grows for safe, effective, and biologically compatible alternatives to fluoride, hydroxyapatite is emerging as a star player in modern preventive and restorative dentistry. This comprehensive presentation explores the science, clinical applications, and real-world use of hydroxyapatite—from nano to micro and beyond. We’ll discuss the different forms of hydroxyapatite, how they compare in efficacy, and the evidence behind their mechanisms of action. Special focus will be given to nano-hydroxyapatite’s ability to interact with systemic biology, including the blood-brain barrier debate, and how dental professionals can effectively deliver hydroxyapatite in-office and recommend home-care strategies to patients. Join us to unlock the full potential of this biomimetic mineral in your clinical practice.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Define the different forms of hydroxyapatite used in dentistry, including nano-, micro-, and zinc- or silver-substituted formulations.
Evaluate the clinical research comparing the effectiveness of nano-hydroxyapatite versus other forms for remineralization, sensitivity, and caries prevention.
Assess the current scientific evidence regarding whether nano-hydroxyapatite can cross the blood-brain barrier and discuss its implications for patient safety.
Identify the best delivery methods for hydroxyapatite in the dental office, including varnishes, polishing pastes, and restorative materials.
Recommend effective at-home care strategies for patients using hydroxyapatite-based products such as toothpastes, rinses, and chewing gums.
Integrate hydroxyapatite into a biological or minimally invasive dental practice, aligning with holistic and patient-centered care principles.
