Description

Learning Objectives: After completion participants of the course will:

  • Know the history of the use of phase contrast microscopy in dentistry.
  • Understand the use of phase-contrast microscopy in identifying periodontal pathogens to improve case acceptance.
  • Understand why pathogen identification is important, how easy it is to do and how and why your periodontal therapy acceptance will skyrocket.
  • Learn alternative therapy recommendations for the elimination of periodontal pathogens in office and at home.

Course Summary:

Because of the known oral-systemic link, it is more important than ever to have your patients understand and accept periodontal treatment. Unfortunately, many patients resist acceptance and ownership of their disease, which is a daily  battle for the hygienist and the dental office.  But how can we fight a battle if we don’t know the enemy?  Seeing is believing and the use of a phase contrast microscope during case presentation will not only engage your patient to accept their disease, but they will also willingly accept treatment.  Using modalities such as phase contrast microscopy, balancing pH and additional evidence-based alternative protocols will successfully improve your case acceptance and  patient care.  Here you will not only dramatically improve case acceptance your Perio department will thrive which in turn will create a successful practice.

 {Teaching method will be lecture format & Q & A period.}

*This program is for the full dental staff-no prior skills needed to attend.
