Dental Unit Waterlines (DUWLs) are in the news and on inspection checklists. But the process of testing and treating waterlines is often misunderstood or even forgotten about. Science shows us that many of the aerosols we are producing in our operatories come directly from the biofilm growth in our DUWLs. How can you ensure the safety of yourself and your patients? In this dynamic presentation, attendees will learn the why, how, and the what of dental unit waterline compliance. Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Describe the formation of biofilm within dental unit waterlines (DUWLs) and explain its impact on water quality, aerosol contamination, and patient safety.
Identify current guidelines, standards, and regulatory requirements related to dental unit waterline testing, treatment, monitoring, and documentation.
Evaluate the risks associated with contaminated dental waterlines, including the potential effects on patients, dental healthcare personnel, and overall infection prevention efforts.
Implement appropriate testing and maintenance protocols for dental unit waterlines, including routine monitoring, shock treatments, and daily waterline management procedures.
Develop a comprehensive dental unit waterline compliance program that promotes safe water quality, reduces biofilm accumulation, and supports ongoing infection control within the dental practice.

Requirements to attend a live webinar:
