Pediatric Health Issues and the Dental Team

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will cover the various diagnostic and treatment aspects of care for the pediatric patient from birth to age 12. Topics will include but not be limited to:
- Difference between pediatric and adult patients
- Milestones of pediatric development – both emotional and physical
- Significance of pediatric nutrition and the gut microbiome
- Apgar rating and significance for infants
- Spinal development
- Scoliosis identification and treatment
- Cranial faults
- Techniques for improved proprioceptive response
- Various learning disabilities
- The roles of the parent and of epigenetics
