Description
Nitric Oxide & the Mouth-Body Connection: A New Era in Biological Dentistry
Attend by Live – Interactive Webinar or Live at our School
—————————————————-
Attend this class on Sunday Sept. 7th and stay for an additional lecture on “Fluoride Under Fire: Risks, Realities, and Safer Alternatives”
and receive 5 CEU credits and a complimentary lunch
Course Description:
Nitric oxide (NO) is a critical signaling molecule involved in numerous physiological processes, including vasodilation, immune response, and cellular communication. In recent years, research has revealed its significant role in oral and systemic health, implicating it in periodontal disease, caries prevention, wound healing, and cardiovascular links to oral bacteria.
This 2-hour continuing education course provides dental professionals with a comprehensive overview of nitric oxide’s biology, its oral-systemic connections, and its practical relevance in preventive and therapeutic dentistry. Clinicians will explore how oral bacteria contribute to nitric oxide production, the impact of antiseptics and mouthwashes on NO pathways, and how nutrition, airway health, and lifestyle influence NO levels. The course will also examine emerging tools and interventions for optimizing nitric oxide in dental practice.

Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Explain the physiological role of nitric oxide in the human body and its relevance to oral and systemic health.
2. Describe the oral microbiome’s contribution to nitric oxide production and how dental interventions may support or hinder this pathway.
3. Identify the impact of common dental products and practices (e.g., mouthwashes, antibiotics) on nitric oxide synthesis and bioavailability.
4. Evaluate the implications of nitric oxide deficiency or dysregulation in relation to periodontal disease, caries, cardiovascular health, and systemic inflammation.
5. Discuss dietary, lifestyle, and therapeutic strategies that can enhance nitric oxide production and support patient health from a biological dentistry perspective.
6. Incorporate nitric oxide awareness into preventive care protocols, patient education, and holistic treatment planning.
