Two Hour-Prescription Opioid Drugs  

Issues relating to dental management of acute oral/dental pain (not chronic orofacial pain) and responsible prescribing practices

Treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of a substance use disorder, Safe pharmacological management of dental pain and screening, brief intervention, and referral for appropriate treatment of patients with or at risk of developing opioid and other substance use disorders.

• Alternatives to opioids for managing and treating pain  
• When and opioid prescription may be indicated for managing and treating pain  
• The risks and signs of opioid drug misuse, abuse, addiction  
• Accessing the state’s Prescription Monitoring Program  
• Emergency management of opioid overdose

1.  You will need a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer to view it. If using a smartphone or tablet, it is best to have the app for the program on your device (i.e. Zoom).
2.  To verify your continued attendance during the class, you will need a microphone,or the ability to type into the program’s live chat.
3. A webcam so the teacher can see you
4.   Instructors or school personnel will take attendance periodically throughout the class.
5.   Instructors may call on participants.
6.  To verify attendance, a code word may be given sometime during the class.
7. You will be required to complete and return an evaluation after the course has ended. The evaluation may ask what code word was given.
8.  You may not receive your Certificate of Completion if we cannot verify your attendance.

Certificates of Completion are emailed to students approximately 5 business days after the course.

This program is for the full dental staff – no prior skills are needed to attend.
