Course Description
Autoimmune diseases are increasingly common and frequently impact oral health, dental treatment planning, and overall patient safety. From xerostomia and delayed healing to complex medication interactions and immunosuppression concerns, dental professionals must understand how systemic autoimmune conditions affect clinical care.
This comprehensive continuing education course provides the dental team with practical, evidence-based knowledge about common autoimmune disorders seen in dental practice. Participants will learn how to recognize oral manifestations, understand medical management implications, identify red flags, and modify treatment protocols safely and effectively. Emphasis will be placed on improving patient communication, risk assessment, infection control considerations, and interprofessional collaboration.
This course is designed for dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and office managers who want to elevate their understanding of systemic health and deliver safer, more informed care to medically complex patients.
