Hand Hygiene 101

Hand hygiene plays a critical role in reducing the transmission of microorganisms. There are many types of products available for hand hygiene but how do we choose what to use and when to use them? This course will address the need for proper hand hygiene as part of a comprehensive infection control program in the dental office.
Objectives: By the end of the course the participant should be able to
- State reasons to support the necessity for hand hygiene.
- Describe various methods of hand hygiene
- Discuss advantages/disadvantages of hand hygiene products
- Discuss how to choose hand hygiene products
- Describe methods to promote hand hygiene in the dental setting
