Course Description & Objectives:
This course will review the role and duties of the true office manager. How to make the transition from a dental receptionist or dental assistant to a management role will be covered. Topics such as: hiring and keeping staff, acting as a liaison between the doctor and the staff, maintaining a productive hygiene program processing insurance effectively and efficiently, marketing strategies for the new computer based age and much more.

Since joining the dental field in 1995, Cecilia has worked in numerous administrative capacities, including dental assistant, receptionist, data entry, office manager and Chief Operating Office,. Cecilia’s dedication and passion for the dental field earned her the distinction of being named Practice Administrator/ Office Manager of the year in 2015 by the American Association of Dental Office Management. She currently works as a Chief Operating Office at a dental practice in Northern NJ. Her responsibilities include overseeing all operational aspects of 4 practices such as accounts receivables, accounts payable, payroll, human resources compliance, hiring and termination of employees, billing, coding, marketing, etc. to name a few.Her accomplishments would not have been possible without her love of knowledge, she says. “The more you know, the more valuable you are, not only to your employer, but to society.” Her passion for learning drove her to obtain a bachelor’s degree in finance from William Paterson University in 2008 (while simultaneously raising a family), followed by an MBA from Mercy College in 2015. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Business Administration from Walden University.
