Drug Abuse Screening, Safe Drug Management of Dental Pain in the Dental Office

This Class Satisfies the MATE ACT Requirement:

The MATE Act requires increased training for Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)-registered physicians and practitioners—specifically, a one-time eight-hour training requirement on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders. Renewing DEA Registrants will need to satisfy this as of June 27, 2023 renewals.

Course Description:

Dental Office – Drug Abuse Screening, Safe Management of Dental Pain for All Patients

In today’s dental practice, with the ongoing overuse of scheduled drugs (opioids, et.al.), patients may present for dental care who are overusing scheduled drugs. In addition to safe management of dental pain, in today’s drug-overuse environment, the dentist should understand the basics of screening a patient for potential abuse.  Both critical issues are parts of this lecture.
