This Preparatory Course will prepare the student for the Orthodontic Chairside portion of the Dental Assisting National Board Orthodontic Certification Examination. This program covers infection control and Orthodontic chairside procedures. This review follows the subject matter which is on the DANB exam listed below:
The exam consists of the folloiwng areas:
Orthodontic Assisting (OA) 210 multiple-choice questions:
Collection and recording of clinical data 15
Chairside dental materials 5
Laboratory materials and procedures 5
Patient education and 10 oral health management
Prevention and management of emergencies 5
Office operations 5
Radiation health and safety 19
Infection Control* (ICE) 100 multiple-choice
Patient and dental healthcare 10

- Applicants must have 1 year Ortho experience or graduate from an ADA-accredited Dental Assisting Program (not this course).
- Must have a High School diploma or GED. (There is a $130.00 fee for foreign diplomas to be evaluated for US Equivalency)
- Must have completed and accredited Dental Radiology program.
- Must be certified in BLS CPR for the Healthcare Provider. (See DANB.org for approved organizations.)
Note: You must have 2 years of full time work experience in Orthodontics in order to take the DANB Ortho Examination, and one year of Ortho experience to take this program. Tuition includes “Modern Denta Assisting” and “DSI Workbook”.
